Wetland Warriors

Eric Diefenderfer, graduate of the Advanced Inquiry Program at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, presents a real-world scenario for his middle school students–to imagine a sports facility is proposed on the site of an existing wetland on school grounds. Diefenderfer offers his students a problem-based learning opportunity that requires cross-curricular application of science and mathematics with the purpose of solving a problem in a real-world situation. Through the project, his students foster environmental connections and become Wetland Warriors.
