José-Ignacio Pareja

… is Director of STC and a Faculty member at Earlham College. He has a passion for teaching and learning inside and outside the classroom walls where science intersects with culture, ecology, health, the environment, and technology. José has a Ph.D. in Science Education, an M.S. in Ecology, an M.Ed. Education Technology, and a B.S. in Biotechnology. His current interests lie in the intersection of life science, education, and shared experiences through international collaborations. He used to be a high school science teacher. He has also lead a number of Earth Expeditions field courses. As an educator, José likes to engage students in thinking about applied sciences across disciplines and learning about the natural world alongside students in hands-on, experiential learning.  “I love traveling, hiking, and walking my dog (Nala) in the woods and I am looking forward to the next Earth Expedition adventure … Pura Vida.”
