Chandler Sharp

… is a Conservation Interpreter at the Dallas Zoo, where, through animal encounters and activities, endangered species campaigns, and field expeditions, he inspires zoo visitors to conservation action in the Dallas-Fort Worth community and beyond. Although Chandler was born in Dallas, he grew up near Atlanta, Georgia, where his interest in nature and wildlife began. He received a bachelor’s degree in fisheries and wildlife from the University of Georgia in 2015 and graduated from the Global Field Program with an M.A. in Biology in 2019. The program proved life-changing for him as he gained knowledge about the importance of communities in conservation and connecting with nature through his travels to Baja, Australia, and Namibia. Most of his previous positions have included a guest interaction or an environmental education component, from talking with visitors about wildlife patients at a sea turtle hospital to leading school children on nature hikes in Texas. He has also volunteered as a Conservation Corps member working to restore trails and landscapes in Gettysburg and the Smoky Mountains. Chandler is a Certified Interpretive Guide through the National Association for Interpretation and a Professional Affiliate of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. He loves the outdoors, running, aviation, spending time with friends and family, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs. Chandler is looking forward to continuing his Dragonfly journey as a Community Learning Leader and cannot wait for the adventures ahead!
